Bianca Chiara, MD: Hoboken NJ Functional Medicine Clinic
Skin Disease Doctor Hoboken NJ: Both eczema and psoriasis are non-contagious skin disorders that have different symptoms. One of the worse aspects for suffers of eczema is the itching of the skin and consequently, the uncontrollable urge to scratch thus making the patches of affected skin even worse.
- Eczema: Eczema also known as dermatitis, is indicated by red and flaky skin patches along with breaks in the skin. In more severe cases crusted over lesions may occur.
- Psoriasis: Psoriasis is a more common skin condition as it affects more than 3 million people in the United States every year. The most common symptom is a rash on the skin, but sometimes the rash involves the nails or joints.
The Link Between Leaky Gut and Skin Disorders Eczema and Psoriasis
Leaky gut is caused when the junctions in the gut that control what passes through the lining of the small intestine do not work properly and allow toxins, fat and other substances to leak into the blood stream. Leaky gut syndrome’s symptoms include bloating, gas, cramps, food sensitivities, aches and pains.
The skin is the body’s largest elimination organ so it’s not surprising that it comes under assault when toxins careen through the bloodstream. When the body tries to expel these toxins in the bloodstream, side effects such as eczema or psoriasis can occur.
Treating Eczema and Psoriasis with Functional Medicine
Identifying the foods and dietary habits that are causing toxins to enter the body is the first step to treating eczema and psoriasis. Our treatment focus is on nutrition, lifestyle, stress management, herbals and neutraceuticals/supplements, as well as pharmaceutical options when necessary.
It is a truly holistic approach, open to incorporating eastern and western medicine options and being directed by the patient’s preference, combined with considerations of safety and efficacy for the health concerns being addressed.
I usually don’t like doctors and went to 2 others in Hoboken before Dr. Chiara. Dr. Chiara was kind, honest and efficient. Had no problem getting an appointment and did not have to wait very long. While most doctors have a nurse or assistant take you into the office, take your information, and then let the doctor see you for 5 minutes, Dr. Chiara listened to all of my concerns right away and I was in an out of the office in less than half an hour. Have already recommended her to a handful of friends.
